Director – Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing:

 

Will be responsible for driving strategy, creating roadmaps, and implementation & development of enterprise wide Business Intelligence (BI) capabilities.  This includes design and architecture of our business intelligence and reporting systems, BI assessment, business requirements gathering, data architecture and modeling, ETL design and delivery.  This position will be a key contributor in planning and coordinating enterprise wide BI activities, including data governance, prioritization of demand for BI support and solution development.  This role requires working throughout all levels of the organization, and working closely with business sponsors , business subject matter experts and Information Technology to ensure that high business value solutions are planned and executed.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Developing Business Intelligence strategy and roadmap
  • Designing and recommending reporting and analytics solutions
  • Owning the overall design of BI and data warehouse environment, including data model, information delivery and ETL
  • Providing leadership to development teams and assisting with design and technical work as required
  • Demonstrating thought leadership
  • Leading BI tools/components evaluation and selection process
  • Facilitate management dialog, sponsorship and commitment
  • Developing the business cases and cost benefit analysis for BI solutions
  • Collaborate with customers regarding their data, reporting & analytic needs
  • Communicate at executive level and link BI with the enterprise’s strategic goals
  • Promote the development of self-service capabilities for the business in the access and reporting of business information
  • Ability to work with multiple, disparate data types to provide key insights
  • Perform people management activities, including hiring, managing individual performance, conducting performance and career reviews
  • Mentor staff and provide educational and training opportunities

 

 

 

Job Specifications:

 

Education & Knowledge: Bachelors degree or above

 

 

Skills, Abilities and Competencies

  • 12+ years of progressively responsible experience within technology departments

·         5+ years experience as a lead in teams of 5 to 10 people in the development of BI requirements and deployments

  • Knowledge and experience in development of data warehouse architectures and large volume reporting solutions
  • Experience in designing data models and data structures to support reporting and analysis
  • Knowledge of industry accepted design techniques including star and snowflake schemas
  • Experience and knowledge of current trends within the Business Intelligence domain
  • Knowledge in multiple reporting tools such as Cognos, MS Reporting Solution or QlikView utilizing both relational and multidimensional tool architectures

·         Ability to communicate and present effectively with business and IT stakeholders to gain consensus

  • Ability to translate business needs into business requirements
  • Experience in providing technical leadership to project team members
