Director of Human Resources – Field

Location:  Louisville, KY  (area, southeast Indiana)

A premier client of ours, a global multi-billion manufacturing organization experiencing approximately 40% year over year growth, is seeking a Director of HR to support all HR strategies and initiatives for their manufacturing and distribution facilities.   This individual must have multi-site experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment.

This Director will have a team of HR professionals to include (7) direct reports (HR Managers) who then also have reports that are all located in the various manufacturing/distribution centers.  You will oversee strategic Human Resources across multiple distribution locations and supply chain operations. Work with and advise senior leadership on strategic planning in the areas of organization optimization and talent management, compensation, and positive employee relations. This HR team owns ALL HR functions for these distribution centers to include:

  • HR Business Partnership
  • HR Generalist activities
  • Staffing
  • Talent Mgt
  • Talent Development
  • Employee Relations
  • Leadership development
  • Training

A focus of this role will be concentrated on:

  • Develop relationships with the leadership teams that are located in the various distribution centers such as the GM, VP’s Directors, etc
  • Develop relationships with the senior operations leadership team
  • Develop HR strategies that will align with the business strategies
  • Create HR synergies across all DC’s
  • Partner with the GM to develop and execute talent management strategies and process that will enhance their organization for BOTH salaried and non-salaried employees
  • Develop branding strategies to attract talent
  • Manage and direct HR teams embedded in the specific DC’s
  • Mentor and develop the HR team
  • Address employee issues and challenges

The successful candidate will become a trusted partner with Operations leaders.  This role will partner with business leaders and associates to deliver HR services in a proactive and solution oriented manner aligned with business strategy.  This position acts as a strategic advisor, service manager and business catalyst.

  • Drive business results by ensuring HR strategies and plans are translated into concrete actions and tangible outcomes.
  • Champion culture by aligning people with the business mission, vision and values; champion employee advocacy and relations.
  • Attend Quarterly Meetings to report and describe any issues, programs and concerns in the operations functions.
  • Shape organizational structure by aligning business requirements and conditions with people and capabilities.
  • Implement position and competency frameworks and design motivational career paths.
  • Monitor and foster talent development through consultation, development plan execution and measurement/evaluation.
  • Develop and administer reward systems that drive organizational goals.
  • Plan for succession and identify the values, behaviors and skills required for future leaders.
  • Enable a working environment where sharing knowledge and expertise is encouraged.
  • Serve as general advisor on employment law and government regulations.
  • Assist in development and delivery of HR process and systems training
  • Monitor KPIs and provide excellent HR service delivery (timely, accurate, efficient and responsive).
  • Maintain knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation; insure compliance.
  • Drive for continuous improvement – HR processes.
  • All other duties as may be assigned at management’s discretion.

Required/Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years progressively responsible HR experience; minimum of 5 years HR leadership role; field experience required
  • BS in Human Resources or related field; MBA or MS with HR emphasis a strong plus
  • PHR/SPHR certification preferred
  • Demonstrated understanding of core HR competencies – Employee Relations, Compensation and Benefits, Recruiting and Retention, Talent Management and Organizational Development, Performance Management, Compliance, EHS & Risk Management, Change Management
  • Demonstrated success implementing HR programs, systems and initiatives
  • Strong business aptitude; specific industry/business experience preferred
