Major Electronics Manufacturer seeks Director, New Product Introduction

The New Product Introduction (NPI) Director is responsible for the transition of one or more simultaneous products under development from design engineering to volume production. The NPI Director must possess a blend of business and technical acumen with experience in manufacturing, marketing and most important product development. The Director must possess a solid program management philosophy with the ability to lead and motivate a highly experienced team of professionals to achieve key outcomes in a complex business environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Create & execute the NPI Playbook Process
  • Timely delivery of new product launches.
  • Accountable for design control deliverables for the introduction of new products – deliverables such as assembly process documentation, process risk assessments and equipment and process validations.
  • Utilize Design for manufacturing techniques to evaluate & improve upon current designs for future revisions.
  • Collaborate on risk analysis documents & exercises such as dFMEA & pFMEA.
  • Early collaboration with design engineering to incorporate optimal manufacturing methods throughout concept, development & launch phases of NPI’s
  • Synchronize with customer facing team, coordinating with marketing and sales departments, to provide necessary program status and obtain customer feedback.
  • Lead project teams to meet targets for quality, delivery & other associated measures
  • Develop and implement recovery plans for off-schedule and unanticipated eventualities.
  • Partner with cross functional teams to develop a launch strategy and execution plans that optimizes a speed-to-market philosophy. This includes directing and exerting influence across different organizations to drive product development and implementation plans.
  • Represent Operations at a variety of reviews related to program launch (sourcing committee, design review, launch readiness review, program review etc.)

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.  Graduate coursework is desirable.
  • Minimum 12 years of experience in of transitioning NPI’s into production and 5 years of management responsibility
  • 7-10 of experience in a high-technology advanced manufacturing company.
  • Certification as Greenbelt in Six Sigma preferred – or similar problem solving / process improvement methodology
  • PMP certification
  • Ability to take initiative and work in a self-directed environment with remote team members& leaders
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills with the ability to develop & present information to individuals & groups with executive presence.
  • Past experience of having overall control of planning, staffing, budgeting, managing expense priorities, and recommending, and implementing change.
