Director of Engineering–Mobile Devices

RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position will direct an
engineering team that develops device products supporting the US and
International market. This position will lead the development of products
through an on-site team as well as external suppliers.

Responsible for hardware and
software development process for devices.

• Works with device product management on product strategy and road maps.

• Defines schedules and manages projects adhering to specification, budgets and
schedules. Focus on delivering a high quality offering to the marketplace.

• Coordinates development efforts with the infrastructure development team.

• Enables innovation and the creation of Intellectual Property and Patents.

• Provides strategic technology guidance for the devices business.

• Engages with customers and sales leadership to work through product and
technical propositions, solve customer problems and seek input that will
eventually lead to device design.

• Works with Product Management, the Architecture team, and senior management
to determine product strategy, road maps, and engineering timelines.

• Negotiates and selects key contract development firms.

• Works with Quality and Supply chain organizations on production of products.

SKILLS REQ’D:

Bachelors degree in an engineering discipline. A graduate degree in
engineering or business degree preferred

10+ years of experience in leading engineering teams.

· Demonstrated experience in building devices that have a high degree of
special software and hardware features.

· Experience working managing 3rd party development firms.

· Strong working knowledge of Broadband technologies & knowledge of 3G based technologies (UMTS/HSPA or Do Rev A
