Hadoop Systems Administrator

 

  • Administrate and support Hadoop clusters (including HBase).
  • Analyze system and application architecture to ensure that all functional and non-functional requirements are met..
  • Evaluate and select tools and technologies needed for efficient support of the systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that applications are properly tested, configured, and deployed.
  • Investigate and determine root cause(s) of software and system defects.
  • Adapt configuration management tools for the needs of the Operations teams.
  • Create and execute test plans, and analyze and report results.
  • Interact with users to support software acceptance process and act as a liaison between development and user community; investigate and report problems.

Requirements:

  • BS degree in Computer Science or related engineering field.
  • 5+ years of relevant working experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of Hadoop administration and support.
  • Strong working knowledge of Cloudera Hadoop distribution of Apache Hadoop and HBase version 0.20.3 or better a plus.
  • Proficient in Unix, Linux, Windows operating systems
  • Proficient in shell scripting (e.g. Perl, ksh, tcsh)
  • Working knowledge of JBoss Application Server, Tomcat & Linux (RedHat) & Unix (Solaris 10).
  • Familiarity with Oracle 10g/11g, or MySQL or PostgreSQL databases.
  • Working knowledge of JMS standard and implementations (e.g. Apache Qpid) a plus.
  • Ability to learn, apply and explain new tools and technologies quickly.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Visio tools.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
