Manager Data Architecture
Position Summary:
Manager of Architecture will be responsible for managing and leading a team of architects in data, reporting and ETL architecture that supports both OLTP and BI/Data Warehouse systems. The individual must have strong management experience, ability to work with business and IT organizations and offer technical leadership that can ensure successful technical project execution and delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Manage team of 12+ technical architecture resources to deliver technical design and solutions for OLTP and BI/DW system.
- Lead and facilitate in defining new technology roadmap, frameworks and solutions.
- Lead and facilitate cross organizational alignment in technology solution and delivery.
- Work effectively with both business and IT stakeholders.
- Manage and support vendor relationships. Both technology vendors and staffing vendors.
- Identify and present new technologies that will benefit new or existing initiatives.
- Manage resource skill sets and capacity planning.
- Support budget planning and forecasting process.
- Provide mentoring and skill development of individual team member.
Requirements, Skills, Experience, Education:
- Minimum 10 years in technical experience in delivering large scale OLTP and BI/DW systems.
- Minimum 7 years in technical architecture experience, especially in data architecture.
- Minimum 5 years in technical project management experience.
- Minimum 3 years in Reporting and ETL architecture experience.
- Minimum 3 years in designing systems that provides High Availability and Disaster Recovery capability.
- Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in OLTP and OLAP data model design.
- Experience and good understanding in SOA architecture.
- Strong experience in data warehousing, analytic reporting and ETL architecture.
- Experience coordinating information requirements of multiple projects, including assessment of usefulness, reliability and cleanliness of data from several sources.
- Ability to effectively present complex technical information to non-technical audiences and to senior decision-makers.
- Minimum 3 years experience with PostgreSQL and Oracle database 10g or 11g.
- Familiarity with Informatica PowerCenter and Pentaho.
- Experience with Oracle Business Intelligence (OBIEE) is a plus.
- Familiarity with Hadoop, HBase, Pig, HIVE, Sqoop.
- Strong working knowledge of SQL. Knowledge in Oracle PL/SQL and XQuery is a plus.
- Experience in modeling with XML Types, XML DB, non-traditional database (non-RDBMS), like HBase, eXist, Hypertable is a plus.
- Strong SDLC knowledge, with excellent process and system documentation skills.
- Strong ability to identify risks and issues and escalate to project management. Ability to provide risk mitigation and issue resolution recommendations.
- Solid understanding of Data Management and Metadata Management process and principles, with ability to effectively communicate and sell those ideas to others.
- Demonstrated success working in a team-based environment, working with business and technology.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills required.
- Strong communication skills required; technical and business writing skills are required.
- Experience with database performance tuning and code review is a plus.
- BS degree in computer science or related technical field is required.
