Director of Infrastructure Operations (Full-time)

For this Chicago-based firm, will report to the CIO within an organization founded in 1900. The environment is primarily Windows, Exchange, Active Directory, VOIP and Cisco based with VMware and highly virtualized.

Technology Director – Operations

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage all aspects of the firm’s computer operations area
• Work closely with managed services provider to ensure the highest quality service.
• Manage all delivery metrics for managed services partner.
• Manage internal team of architects and technologists to design, build and support technology in a highly-available environment.
• Implement monitoring controls and build relationship with managed services Network Operation Center.
• Define and manage the IT Operations department including staffing structure, operations and network functions to achieve business objectives.
• Define and manage department projects to ensure continual Productivity, staff development, and achievement of goals.
• Contribute to budget planning and oversight.
• Develop and execute IT policies in conjunction with the business leaders.
• Deliver IT services to provide highly available experience to internal and external customers.

MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

• Demonstrate leadership by regularly summarizing performance results with staff in support of our Performance Management System.
• Demonstrate positive self-confidence and business maturity in professional relationships.
• Regularly meet with staff, document status of assignments, discuss priorities and communicate issues and needs to direct-report manager and direct report staff or others as appropriate.
• Monitor, evaluate, and take action to attain the firm’s planned results.
• Manage personnel activities of direct report staff.
• Develop and grow team to align with business needs.

Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in a Technology related field required. Master’s degree or related experience preferred.
• Fifteen 15 years experience managing an IT focused initiatives with substantial Operations experience.
• Ten years experience managing IT staff.
• Experience working in a managed services environment.
• Experience with high volume online transaction environment.
• Previous experience designing and implementing HA solutions including mirroring, clustering, and SANs.

Desired Skills/Experience:

• Strong technical skills including current Microsoft Server OS, SQL, Active Directory, VMware, and/or Exchange.
• Exposure to network management in a CISCO centric environment including VOIP.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to set targets, design improvement plans, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse population group.
• Strong interpersonal, problem solving and conflict management skills.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
