Senior Network Engineer (MPLS, VPN)

Support the client’s business strategy to double their sales from $550m to $1b.  Due to this business strategy, the IT operation needs to extend their services and capabilities to accommodate that growth.  Function as a Team Lead responsible for directing the efforts of 3 windows server engineers; the team is expected to expand as the organization executes their expansion strategy.  

Function as the primary contributor in the design of a global corporate network infrastructure to meet the client’s growth, service reliability requirements, and problem management.  Engage in a variety of efforts from setting up a VLAN—Virtual Local Area Network—to designing & implementing the n/w infrastructure, to supporting the environment, assisting in evolving the environment to support the business growth, etc. 

The ideal candidate will have experience supporting both a Cisco as well as a Juniper network but experience in both is NOT a requirement.

  • Write detailed ITIL-based technical documentation that delivers connectivity solutions to meet technical requirements.
  • Evaluate technical requirements for projects to determine the impact to the network including equipment, redundancy and capacity requirements.
  • Participate in BC/DR planning and compliance/security activities.
  • Communicate with customers on technical matters and provide Level 3 support
  • Provide technical presentations to executive management in support of projects/services to meet various business objectives/initiatives.
  • Ensure well-defined requirements are met reliably at the right cost points to accommodate fast, holistic, global growth.
  • Play a key role in defining the detailed technical requirements for current and future connectivity services for the global enterprise. 

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Technical experience with carrier transport systems and applications in MPLS, VPN, SONET. 
  • In-depth experience designing and supporting large scale Enterprise LAN/WAN infrastructures, using Cisco / Juniper hardware. 
  • Ability to implement and support Quality of Service in the Enterprise networks for delivering critical applications and posses a solid understanding of technologies and their relationship to the OSI Model.
  • Understanding of complex global networks, experience working with global engineering teams is also strongly desired.
  • Experience writing detailed technical requirements documents for engineers, and the ability to function effectively at both strategic and tactical level.
  • Strong analysis, problem resolution, judgment and decision-making skills are a must.

 Bachelor’s degree & relevant industry certifications preferred
