Strategic Analyst

Location: Chicago Area                                             


Support the members of the Strategy team and key corporate, functional and operating company leaders to identify, evaluate and pursue global growth opportunities that enhance shareholder value. The Strategy Associate is expected to bring creative and analytical skill set to solving strategic issues for the company.


  • Work collaboratively with the Strategy & Corporate Development team, and members of the operating companies to support a range of strategic initiatives. Initiatives span a variety of areas, including corporate strategy, strategic planning, portfolio strategy, individual operating company growth strategies, business restructuring, and post-merger integration
  • Work both independently on certain projects and manage analysis on others. Scope, plan and conduct underlying analysis that will yield meaningful insights
  • Lead analysis on new product categories outside the scope of the existing operating companies; understand the dynamics of these markets, analyze existing players, and assess alternative market entry strategies
  • Support evaluation of potential acquisition opportunities. Conduct primary and secondary research on target companies and their markets, channels and competitors; analyze the target company’s value proposition, competitive position, financial performance to assess opportunities to create value post-acquisition
  • Support team efforts to monitor industry trends, channel evolution and key competitors’ strategies and tactics; identify and evaluate issues that could potentially impact competitive position and financial performance
  • Support and lead special projects as assigned which may include M&A scenario analysis, market forecasts, capital budgeting, etc.


Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, Business Administration or other relevant degree.

Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in investment banking, management consulting, financial planning and analysis or in a previous strategy/corporate development role.


  • Possesses data modeling skills, including demonstrated proficiency with MS Excel, sufficient to create complex queries, build complex/efficient financial models, create macros and modules, and summarize key findings from database downloads.
  • Ability to develop and manipulate complex financial models and to analyze complex financial statements.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member under deadline pressures; set priorities; respond to changing demands from multiple sources.
