Sr. System Analyst
Job Summary
Currently seeking a Senior System Analyst for a fast-growing organization based in the Chicagoland area. The Senior System Analyst will be accountable for the designs and specify information systems solutions to address business needs and methods for installing them.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Works with management and users to identify and specify complex business requirements and processes (e.g., diverse development platforms, software, hardware, technologies and tools, etc.).
- Formulates logical statements of business, scientific and/or engineering requirements.
- Researches and evaluates alternative solutions and recommends the most efficient and cost effective solution for the systems design considering existing systems, available technology, the capacity and limitations of equipment, operating time and form of desired results.
- Works with development, operations, technical support and other IT areas as appropriate throughout the development and installation processes.
- Designs a detailed systems testing plan to ensure an accurate and effective product.
- May give some direction and guidance to other Systems Analysts.
- Prepares charts, tables and diagrams to assist in analyzing problems, utilizing, if necessary, various business, scientific and/or engineering mathematical techniques.
- Analyzes existing system logic difficulties and revises the logic and procedures involved as necessary.
- May assist in the supervision and preparation of logic flow charting.
- Performs related duties as assigned or requested.
Required Skills and Experience
- Ability to create diagrams and models to aid requirements and analysis, such as UML, data flow diagrams, mind maps, flow carts and/or logical ERDs.
- Ability to gather requirements and document them in a structured manner.
- Ability to capture and document Use Cases and/or User Stories.
- Experience in full life cycle development (SDLC).
- Ability to apply critical thinking and interviewing skills with project stakeholders to elicit their complete set of requirements and business objectives.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Knowledge and experience working in an iterative development methodology, such as RUP, SCRUM or a similar “home grown” agile process.
- Ability to break system requirements into logical testing scenarios or units for the QA team.
- Ability to design or mock up GUI designs, using wireframes or drawings.
- Experience managing small projects or work streams within a larger project or program is a plus.
- Process methodology experience, such as Six Sigma, CMMi, COBIT or ITIL is a plus.
- Project Management Professional Certification (PMP)
Education Requirement
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required, Master Degree preferred.
