Senior Database Administrator

One of the largest coroporations in the US is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to serve on the DBA team.  In addition to supporting SQL server systems and providing leadership to the team you will be responisbile for providing direction to the team for database design, support, and back-up recovery activities.  Leadership skills should include the ability to command respect from technical staff, project management experience and good organization skills.

 You will design, install, monitor, maintain and performance tune production databases while ensuring high levels of data availability.  The Senior DBA will also work with developers to provide database design. Additionally, make sure tasks are running correctly and develop standards and help with change management processes.  Also, must be able to challenge and push back on the development team. review codes, have the ability to work in a very fast paced high growth environment.

 The Senior DBA will make a significant impact on several large projects during 2009 including building a Business Intelligence platform, upgrading a 7+TB database to SQL 2005, and implementation of Warehouse Control System. 

 REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, related engineering discipline or equivalent experience required.
  • Minimum 7+ years of IT experience, including database design and implementation in a large scale environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with ERP systems administration and SQL.
  • Advanced knowledge of database concepts, performance tuning, proactive monitoring and problem solving
  • Experience with high availability, standby, backup and recovery, re-indexing, database management, and partitioning
  • Experience with database management, monitoring and tuning tools
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential to interact with both internal and external customers
  • Ability and willingness to provide off-hours support
